The plot of the E.L. James bestseller book '50 Shades of Grey' reinforces harmful stereotypes to men and women.

I have no plans to read it or to watch Magic Mike just because I think "mommy porn" is ridiculous. It sounds like a way for a lonely old cat lady to relive her glory days. I like literature that emphasizes a man's character and what he does. Hero characters are a lot more attractive than the nameless Disney prince who's as much an accessory as a handbag, or an abusive jerk like the guy in this story purportedly is at the start. Women should not objectify men any more than we would want them to objectify us. It's also extremely damaging to romanticize abusive, controlling, or power-driven relationships. It gives society the wrong idea about which relationships are healthy and lasting. I liked your defense of virgins ;) Being a virgin often takes a lot of cunning and willpower, but it definitely pays off when you get married. You get the closeness of going through that awkward phase together and don't have to worry about diseases or how you measure up to partners of the past. You were also right about how shared dominance works better. Studies have shown couples who share authority report more satisfaction with their relationships.
